Clitheroe-based BakerBoxx, a baking supplies subscription service launched during the Covid-19 pandemic, has opened its first dedicated premises to allow for future growth.
Each month, BakerBoxx sends out a box of goodies to its thousands of subscribers. Each package contains bake-it-yourself tasty treats, including all the required weighed-out ingredients and step-by-step instructions.
More recently the company has begun working alongside large corporates in the UK to facilitate virtual baking activities and team meet-up sessions.
Now BakerBoxx has opened its site at Mitton Road Industrial Park in Whalley which will become the nerve centre for recipe development, customer services and marketing.
Some services currently procured through freelancers will be brought in-house as permanent jobs, and the site may also provide extra distribution capacity during busy seasons.
The business was founded by James Walton after he was furloughed in 2020. A baker himself since the age of 14, he launched Dough to be Different Artisan Bakery at 18 which saw him win young pastry chef of the year in 2008, become a Rising Star finalist at the British Baking awards in 2011 and he was voted Lancashire Life Food Producer of the Year in 2013.
James has also created recipes and launched products for Selfridges, Harrods, Fortnum & Mason, Harvey Nichols, Buckingham Palace Royal shops, Co-Op, Costa, Tesco and many other widely known brands.
He said: "The success BakerBoxx has achieved with only a small team is a true testament to the genuine passion behind the brand, and I am delighted that customers throughout the UK have warmly welcomed us into their homes.
"The new premises and team members will allow us to push ideas further and bring innovative new recipes to our customers, allowing for more masterful techniques to be taught. We will also be expanding our offering to appeal to wider audiences.
"I am very positive for the future of BakerBoxx and feel we have only touched the surface (or crust) of what we have to offer, making this an exciting time for us and anyone joining our team.”
