Leading business lawyers from Baines Wilson are holding seminars for the local business community, updating businesses leaders and HR professionals on the latest employment law.
Employment law specialists Baines Wilson will reveal the most common reasons employees are dismissed for ‘some other substantial reason’; with reasons including pressure from third parties, a clash of personalities, business reorganisation and preventing reputational damage.
Joanne Holborn explains: “Since employment tribunal fees were scrapped in 2017 there has been a 64% rise in new employment tribunal claims. It’s therefore important for local businesses to be aware of the most common scenarios surrounding dismissal and how to handle these procedures such that they are fair to all and adhere to current legislation.”
Additionally, as one of largest upgrade of workers rights in a generation comes into force in April this year, Baines Wilson will advise employers and HR directors how to recruit under the Government’s Good Work Plan. “Most businesses in Lancashire will beaffected by the introduction of the Good Work Plan” explains Joanne Holborn “so we’re committed to helping local business prepare for these changes.”
Experts will also advise on how to deal with disability in disciplinaries and how best to manage an ageing workforce.

They will take place on Tuesday 10th March at the Swan Hotel, Newby Bridge; Thursday 12th March, LEP Conference Centre, Redhills, Penrith; and Thursday 19th March at Lancaster House Hotel, Lancaster.
