BAE System has announced its half-year results, with sales of £9.6bn for the six months to June 30.
BAE Systems employs around 13,000 people in its Military Air & Information business across more than 30 locations, including Warton and Samlesbury in Lancashire.The total sales of £9.6bn, was an increase from £8.7bn for the first six months of 2016. Earnings per share rose from 17.4p to 19.8p, debt decreased from £2bn to £1.7bn and order intake rose from £7bn to £10.7bn.
Highlights from the first half of 2017 included the opening of a new £2.3m Training and Simulation Integration Facility at Warton, providing an immersive environment for pilots, customers and engineers. Chris Boardman, managing director at BAE Systems Military Air & Information said: “We have made good progress on our key programmes in the first half of 2017 with Typhoon deliveries for our UK and export customers as well as production rates on F-35."
