Bruce & Co is delighted to announce the sale of Rutherfords, a micro-pub operating in the Scottish Border town of Kelso.
Rutherfords was founded by Simon and Debbie Rutherford and has built an excellent reputation nationwide. The micro-pub, the first of its kind in Scotland, has won numerous accolades, such as Best Bar/Pub in the Lothians and Borders and CAMRA Borders Pub of the Year. Additionally, the area where the pub is located – Kelso Square – won the Great British High Street Rising Star Award and was featured in a Marks and Spencer Christmas advert, which directed large amounts of business to the micro-pub.
The micro-pub also has an outdoor seating area that allows customers to look over Kelso Square and its many events, such as the monthly Farmers Market. The pub is surrounded by popular retail stores and restaurants, making it an accessible, must-visit stop for tourists.
Simon and Debbie wished to sell Rutherfords in order to pursue other business interests and instructed Bruce & Co in the sale.
Following a successful marketing campaign, an experienced vendor within the sector acquired the pub.
Upon completion of the sale, Simon and Debbie said: “We are delighted to have sold through Bruce & Co during a difficult time for the industry. Bruce & Co team handled everything perfectly and provided all the right advice and support as required. They were always available and listened to our needs as a seller and reacted to it in a proactive way. Bruce & Co recommended solicitor guided us through perfectly”.
Expert sales negotiator Lauren Lees said: “A deal agreed for a micropub with great history which will continue to attract the local community and visitors from further afield. Although the lockdown slightly pro-longed the sale, we were able to secure a deal with the assistance of their solicitor. I wish my best to all parties involved”.
