Apprenticeships are designed to benefit employers, individuals and the economy as a whole by enhancing the skills across workforces to boost productivity.
A key strand in the government’s skills programme, apprenticeship reforms are intended to increase both the quality and quantity of apprenticeships.
What’s changing?
A new Digital Apprenticeship Service (DAS) will be introduced. This is the digital interface to services designed to support the uptake of apprenticeships.
Apprenticeship funding for levy paying employers
Payments will be made monthly from April 2017 through the Pay As You Earn (PAYE) system and will be payable alongside national insurance and income tax.
There will be an incentive payment of £1,000 for each 16-18 year old; and each 19-24-year-old who is a care leaver or has a local authority education, health and care plan.
