A pair of talented apprentices from Climarite Refrigeration in Skelmersdale have reached the final stages in one of the most prestigious industry awards: ACR Trainee of the Year 2024.
Michael (Mick) Brady and Alex Forkings beat fierce competition to reach the final stage in the “refrigeration and air conditioning engineer” category.
The duo were nominated by team leaders and course tutors due to their 'ability, enthusiasm, progress as engineers and future potential in the industry'.
Brett Smith, operations director at Climarite Refrigeration said: "It's testament to the hard work Alex and Mick put in that they have reached this stage of the awards.
"Both are extremely dedicated to their jobs and further studies. They make fantastic role models, not only to their peers and fellow trainees but all those around them - their work ethic and professional standards are second-to-non. We're in full support and hope they achieve the recognition they deserve".
Both Mick and Alex are already competent engineers with excellent on-the-job training and experience.
Last year the pair began an apprenticeship at City of Liverpool College to further develop their skills and expertise, which will lead them to a level three qualification to become fully qualified RACHP engineers.
Alex and Mick’s tutors at college have commended them for being “model apprentices” with a “thirst for knowledge” and “excelling in practical tasks”.
Alex and Mick will attend the ACR Trainee of the Year Awards final on 5th December at the Leeds Marriott Hotel where they will find out if they have won either a bronze, silver or gold award.
Both nominees also reached the finals in the RAC Cooing Awards and BIBA Awards earlier this year.
