Former IOD North West chairman Ann Jordan is to replace Jeremy Gorick as the high sheriff of Lancashire next month.
Outgoing high sherrif Jeremy Gorick, a board member of UCLan and part of Stonehouse Orion private equity group, said his time had been marked by opportunity to raise money for Rosemere Cancer Foundation and to establish a youth employment conference.
Although many of the powers of the high sheriff have been reduced over the years, the holder still performs many important functions. There are 55 high sheriffs serving in England and Wales, and the role dates back to the middle of the 10th century.
