The largest celebration of amateur sport in the county, the Lancashire Sports Awards, take place on Friday December 4 at the Guild Hall in Preston, and the Anderton Centre is delighted to be sponsoring the primary school category of these prestigious awards.
With ten nominees in this category, one school will walk away with the much sought after accolade for excelling in school sport and physical activity over the last twelve months.Keith Gillies, chairman of the Anderton Centre, commented: “We’re so proud to be associated with these awards. Our centre works tirelessly with young people to promote the benefits of physical activity and the rewards they can bring. The awards recognise the achievements of young people and the dedication and commitment they have demonstrated.
“Sponsoring the primary school category of the awards fits perfectly with our ethos as a charity to encourage young people to get active and enjoy the benefits of sport. They’re also an excellent showcase for inspiring and motivating others.”The Anderton Centre, operated by the charity Lancashire Outdoor Activities Initiative, works with many schools across Lancashire, Manchester and Cheshire, providing land and water based activities to tie in with the school curriculum. With a large team of fully qualified and highly experienced outdoor instructors, they work alongside teaching staff to bring learning to life. Councillor Mark Perks who is a trustee of the Lancashire Outdoor Activities Initiative will present the prize for the primary school category on the night.
