Morecambe-based Althams Fine Foods has launched a doorstep delivery service for its frozen meals.
The fifth-generation family firm, which began life as a butcher in 1856, supplies fresh and frozen ready meals for retailers such as Booths and Costco, as well as some UK airlines.
The new Supper Club builds on this by offering home delivery for a range of recipes from around the world, from Indian and Italian classics to a Lancashire Hot Pot, made with locally sourced lamb and vegetables.
The freezing process preserves nutrients and requires fewer additives and preservatives. Meals are delivered with preparation and serving instructions and wine pairing suggestions.
Rick Altham, managing director at Althams Fine Foods, said: "Even before the pandemic, we were seeing a huge increase in the popularity of direct-to-consumer food delivery services.
"The pandemic only accelerated this trend and many, once niche, artisan products are now available nationwide with a few simple clicks. From pasta and fish to ready meals and even ice cream, there’s never been more choice. With Althams’ expertise in luxury suppers, direct to consumer was the next, natural step for our business."
