There’s been a shift in power. Not only must a candidate dazzle a potential employer to secure a job but, these days, an organisation must impress an individual to secure their services.
By Laura Hartley, director, Laura Hartley Recruitment. It’s never been more important to ensure your existing employees are well cared for, and engagement must start at the very beginning: during the recruitment process.
Fortunately, small things can have a big impact.
Throughout the recruitment process, set a timescale and keep to it. Make time for interviews, or risk everything taking so long that the top candidates accept other offers before you’ve made them an offer.
Interviewing shouldn’t all be about grilling the candidate. Take time to explain your business and, just as importantly, the role and your expectations. Set the scene now and you’ll be able to rule out unsuitable candidates as well as avoid throwing the successful one in at the deep end when they start.
