Name: Adrian Roscoe
Company: Runshaw Business Centre
Position: Business Centre Manager
Brief CV:
I started out working in a family business before a change in career took me into further education.
I spent over 10 years at Wigan and Leigh College teaching business subjects across a variety of programmes and during this time I became increasingly involved in business development, working with various employers of all sizes across Greater Manchester.
From there, I joined Runshaw Business Centre as centre manager in 2004 and here we are.
What’s keeping you busy at work at the moment?
One word, apprenticeships! Earlier in the year we set a target to place 200 16-18-year-old apprentices before the end of April 2011, so I am busy making sure that everything is in place to support both my team and our customers. I am pleased to say we are well on the way to achieving the target.
The education sector is changing constantly, so I spend a lot of my time keeping up with the changes and adapting to ensure that we continue to offer training and development solutions to meet the needs of our clients.
Favourite music of the moment:
Duck Sauce, if only for the lyrics.
Your must-watch TV:
I enjoy programmes with a bit of intrigue and loved the recent series of Spooks. You can’t ignore must-watch TV like that.
Ideal way to wind down after work:
I really enjoy cooking and particularly like making a wide variety of dishes. I find exercise to be a great way to de-stress at the end of the day and also started French Jive (aka Modern Jive) dancing 18 months ago. It’s such good fun and also helps me to keep fit. However, you will never see me appearing on Strictly Come Dancing!
Best piece of business advice:
I would definitely say listen to your customers or you’ll end up not having any.
