The UK’s first care village to feature a heritage gallery, created by a team including leading Lancashire structural engineering specialist TRP Consulting, is winning national and local recognition.
Belong Newcastle-under-Lyme opened its doors in April 2018, providing 24-hour nursing and dementia care facilities for 72 residents in six households and 28 apartments for independent living, along with a range of community facilities.
It boasts an extensive village centre, including bistro, exercise studio and therapy room and also a unique Heritage Gallery, housed in a historic Grade II listed building. The once derelict property was transformed thanks to a £1.8m Heritage Lottery Fund grant.
The overall project has received The Care Home Design of the Year award at the Leaders in Care Awards 2019, which recognises developments which raise the bar in the sector.
