AB InBev, which operates a brewery in Samlesbury, has recorded sales growth in the UK and around the world across 2019.
Stella Artois remained the number one selling alcohol brand in the UK, Corona sales grew by 11.7 per cent and Budweiser enjoyed bumper sales in part due to its sponsorship deal with the England Senior Women’s Football Team.
However, the global EBITDA for the final quarter of 2019 was $5.34bn, which fell short of predictions. The company has also experienced slow sales in the first quarter of 2020 as the coronavirus has reduced social drinking in China, its largest market.
Paula Lindenberg, president for UK & Ireland, Budweiser Brewing Group, said: "Our UK business grew in revenue by high single digits in 2019, driven by strong performances from our global brands and craft portfolio.
"It has been a significant year for us as we moved our head office and rebranded to Budweiser Brewing Group UK&I, using the power and recognition of our global brand to introduce our renewed ambitions, which include creating a nation of smart drinkers and championing Britain’s iconic beer culture."
