Padiham-based Class 1 driver, Scott Moulden, joined the Fagan & Whalley team back in November 2019 from his position as a bartender. Now, less than two years on, he’s topping our Microlise leaderboard and travelling the roads of the UK in his brand-new 21-plate Scania R Cab!
“Scott came to us with a Class 2 licence and very little previous experience, and it’s incredible to see how much he has progressed in his career with us in the last two years!” says F&W Transport Operations Director, Daniel Fagan.
“Scott drove rigids for a year with his Class 2 licence when he first joined. Seeing how dedicated and driven he was, we approached him about opportunities for progression, and he jumped at the chance to go through training for his Class 1 qualification with our in-house training team, which he passed in December 2020.
“Scott has an amazing attitude towards his work, and we’ve been really impressed with his performance. He’s very receptive and seems eager to learn and progress, and that’s been evident in the scores he’s been tracking on Microlise, which is the telematics system we use to monitor and improve fleet safety and efficiency.
“All of our drivers are committed to carrying out their work safely, but our system is very strict, so it is quite a task to not only achieve the top grade, but also to maintain such good scores in the way that Scott has, and we felt his hard work and dedication could not go unacknowledged, or unrewarded.
“After spending 34 weeks in the top of the Microlise leaderboard as an A-graded driver, Scott’s efforts have seen him gifted with a brand-new 21-plate Scania R Cab R450, which he is so deserving of.
“Our people remain at the heart of what we do and how we operate, and making that investment into our team, giving them opportunities to progress, opening new doors, and seeing that their hard work is rewarded, is all a really important part of who we are as a company.
“Seeing Scott’s progression over the last two years has been amazing, and it just goes to show that it is achievable to build a successful career even when you’ve come on board with very little previous experience. Our recently launched Future-bound scheme also aligns with this philosophy, giving people the opportunity to come and join us as a driver with only a UK driving licence, work their way up to Class 1, and potentially achieve the same as Scott.”
