Transaid is a unique charity which prioritises road and transport safety, working alongside partnering organisations and governments to solve transport challenges in economically developing countries.
Founded by Save the Children and The Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport (CILT), with Her Royal Highness, Anne, Princess Royal as its patron, the charity maintains three core values which remain at the heart of every campaign:
Promoting driver safety by providing all relevant training and encouraging governments to invest in improving safety standards for roads and vehicles
Ensuring every family has access to vital healthcare, no matter how rural their communities
Providing every person with equal opportunities to build the skills they need to transform their future
“Transaid is a charity we’ve worked closely alongside for a number of years now,” says Sam Fagan, general manager at Fagan & Whalley. “Their cause is one we really value and feel it deserves our support.
“In the past, we’ve donated an ambulance bike, which is now being used to ensure people who live in communities with no road access can receive urgent medical treatment when needed. We’ve also organised a number of fundraisers in aid of Transaid - last year, I cycled from London to Paris with my dad, Stephen Fagan, which was great fun! This year, we were due to ride from Land’s End up to John O’ Groats, however the event was unfortunately cancelled due to the pandemic.
“We’re now looking to become more involved with the charity’s efforts, we’re starting to build on what we do with them. That’s why we’ve decided to donate to their Christmas Appeal, which has been set up to ensure the rural communities in Central Africa aren’t left behind in the fight against COVID-19.
“Those looking to get involved should visit the Transaid website, where you’ll be able to read up on all of the incredible work they do, and find out more about the Bronze, Silver and Gold donation packages in this year’s Christmas Appeal. Here at Fagan & Whalley, we’ve gone for the gold package in an effort to show our commitment to the cause and help the charity reach its £25,000 target.”
