Darwen-based office furniture manufacturer and supplier, GGI Office Furniture (UK) Limited has been placed in administration.
Following a review of the business, and after much effort by management, the volumes required to make the business viable going forward has not been achieved and it was put up for sale some weeks ago. Despite over 20 parties expressing an interest, no firm offer was made causing the firm to cease to trade and the 99-strong workforce to be made redundant.Advisory firm CLB Coopers has been appointed to manage the process with senior directors Mark Getliffe and Diane Hill appointed as joint administrators.
Mark said: "Unfortunately, after much effort by management, the volumes required to make the business viable going forward."Despite the requirement to make redundancies, we have been approached by local employers who are recruiting and am aware of six people who have already secured new jobs; I am sure there will be many more. "We do still have interested parties looking at parts of the business which was renowned for manufacturing a wide range of products to a high standard."
