Burnley-based +24 Academy has launched an apprenticeship designed to equip the next generation of digital professionals with the tools to tackle the growing issue of cybercrime.
+24 has invested £100,000 in creating the module, which has been designed in conjunction with both tech industry professionals and educators. It is now available for license to education establishments and training providers.
The nationwide roll-out of the course follows on from the academy's digital maketing Level 3 apprenticeships which has been adopted by training providers including Blackburn College.
This latest course follows findings from the government's Intelligence and Security Committee, whose 2022 Cybersecurity Workforce Study found that 3.4 million more skilled cybersecurity professionals are currently needed globally.
Dave Walker, +24 Academy founder and managing director, said: "A career in cybersecurity can be exciting and rewarding. The way a person gets that first step onto the ladder in this field is changing. No longer is gaining a degree in cyber the only option. What if you do not want to go to university?
"Working your way up through enhanced skillsets in coding, software development, that type of thing is another way. But it takes time. Our Academy cybersecurity training module is an accessible solution to starting a career in this fast-paced environment.
"It is the fastest growing area of tech, yet there is a digital skills shortage in this field with very few cybersecurity apprenticeships currently on offer in the UK.
