Taylor Patterson held its 10th Anniversary Charity quiz night raising a massive £4,545 for Rock FM’s Cash for Kids.
The quiz night was held at the Masonic Hall in Preston and was attended by over 160 members of the local business community showing tremendous support for the organisation. The amount raised was not only due to the generosity of those taking part but also due to the kind offer of match funding from the Barclays team in Preston. On the night the 36 quiz teams were tested on a variety of subjects, including general knowledge, current affairs, cinema, music and where in the world! The evening also included a raffle with prizes donated by Taylor Patterson clients, professional introducers and suppliers.
The team from Begbies, Preston were delighted to claim the winner’s trophy on the night closely followed by second placed Champion Accountants, with the wooden spoon trophy going to The Rainbow House team, who were thrilled with the “win”.Director, Gillian Bardin who led the Taylor Patterson Charity Committee in organising this year’s event said “Back in 2007 when we discussed the idea of having a quiz night to raise funds for a local charity we never imagined the popularity of the event or the fact that we would celebrate its 10th Anniversary.
"The success has been down to our very own quizmaster, Ted Hulme, the support from our clients, professional contacts and suppliers. The evening was great fun with lots of healthy competition and a few controversial questions. We’d like to say a huge thank you to everyone who attended this year’s event as their generosity resulted in the record breaking total being raised for such a worthy charity.”During the 10 years of the quiz Taylor Patterson have only supported local charities which include St Catherine’s Hospice, Miles of Smiles, Galloways, Derian House, East Lancashire Hospice, Heartbeat and The Space Centre. Once the final total for this year is in, the team at Taylor Patterson will have raised £50,000 over this period.
This year’s charity Cash for Kids is the official charity of Rock FM and provides a helping hand to disabled and disadvantaged children across Lancashire. Each year the charity hopes to have thousands of pounds available for grants to children’s charities, individuals and many other causes throughout the radio’s transmission area. All the money is raised locally and spent locally and goes to children and young people under 18 throughout the region, with mental, physical or sensory disabilities, with behavioural or psychological disorders, living in poverty or situations of deprivation, suffering through distress, abuse or neglect. Nikki Thompson, charity manager, said: “We are absolutely delighted and overwhelmed by how much money was raised by our local business community at the Taylor Patterson quiz. A truly well organised event with a fabulous quiz master and a range of questions that gave everyone a fair chance of winning. It is testament to the support shown to local charities and businesses by Taylor Patterson with how many people attended the event. This money will make a huge difference to the lives of children in Lancashire.”
