A free event is to be held to advise businesses on the steps they can take to prevent cyber-crime.
North West law firm Napthens is holding the non-technical event in partnership with Cassons Accountants, the Police Cyber Crime division and telecommunications specialists Matrix247.
The seminar will address some of the issues faced by modern businesses – Government figures show that more than half of all crimes in the UK last year were cyber-related, and nearly three quarters of SMEs in the UK suffered a cyber security breach.
During the seminar, which has limited places, Phil Brown, senior associate solicitor and technology specialist at Napthens, will use real examples of cyber threats regional businesses might face, to discuss the legal issues and how they could affect a business.
Matrix247 will talk about ‘phreaking’ telecoms systems and cyber threats to mobile devices; while skills provider Training 2000 will highlight the threats posed by a business’ staff if no cyber policies are in place.
Titan, the North West Regional Organised Crime Unit’s cyber crime division, will share knowledge, and Cassons’ senior audit partner, Nick Stockton, will host a Q&A session.
The event will take place on Tuesday, November 15 at Moorhouses Brewery, Accrington Road, Burnley, from 8am. To register visit www.napthens.co.uk/event or email [email protected]
