The first International Women's Day occurred in 1911, supported by over one million people. Today, IWD belongs to all groups collectively everywhere. IWD is not country, group or organisation specific, because it's up to all of us to help accelerate gender equality.
Every year, Role invites Lancashire women to do something a little different for International Women's Day.
It's super to go to a networking lunch and hear a speaker, but why not do that AND mentor a young woman? Many 16 year olds have never had the chance to meet someone who owns a business or is in a professional or managerial role.
If you can remember how daunting it sometimes was being 16, please join us. We need 30 generous Lancashire women to spend just 5 hours at Accrington and Rossendale College on 13.3. We will enjoy a day of inspiration with a delicious hot lunch, a great speaker and networking and we will work with the students doing fun exercises which promote confidence and communication skills.
This will be our 9th Oysters and Pearls event in Lancashire and we get incredible feedback, so we know just how much your support means to the girls. Last year the girls at Blackburn said "They never wanted to day to end."
