This autumn, we’re heading into the wild heart of the Forest of Bowland, where hen harriers and peregrine falcons soar over the fells as the first autumn colours gild the wooded valleys.
Starting in the pretty hamlet of Dunsop Bridge, we’ll follow the River Dunsop into the Bowland fells before forking off into the remote valley of Whitendale, from where we’ll climb up onto the plateau briefly before descending into the Brennand Valley.
From here, it’s a steep ascent via the infamous Ouster Rake up onto Whin Fell – from where the views stretch out across Morecambe Bay to the Isle of Man – followed by a steady descent into the Trough of Bowland and back to our starting point.
