To kickstart the year, DTE Head of Tax Dispute Resolution, Alan McCann, has managed to invite representatives from HMRC to join us at our upcoming Tax Clubs in February/March and speak about Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR). This is a must-attend event where you will not only learn more about ADR directly from HMRC and raise any questions you may have, but also have the opportunity to network with them.
At the Bury Tax Club, our speaker from HMRC will be:
LINDSAY CHALMERS
Individual & Small Business Compliance, Professionalism and Customer Experience PaCE
ADR | HMRC
Lindsay will cover the following topics:
- What is ADR
- When is ADR appropriate
- How to apply
- An overview of the mediation day
- Q&A
The remainder of the Tax Clubs will be the usual topical update of what is happening in the UK tax world by Alan, as well as our co-speaker Andrew Needham from VAT Specialists Ltd.
We hope you can join us and look forward to meeting you at one of our next sessions.

DTE Tax Club is a free lunchtime event designed to provide tax professionals and general accountancy practitioners in the North West with an overview of the latest happenings in the tax world. DTE’s Head of Tax Dispute Resolution, Alan McCann, has hosted the Tax Clubs for over 15 years, building a unique support network for our many regular members.
The Tax Club also counts towards your annual requirement for Structured CPD hours.
The event takes place in a relaxed open discussion format, giving attendees the opportunity to get involved in discussion, share knowledge and experiences. Specialist guest speakers also offer an insight into more cutting-edge topics.
Each Tax Club starts with a buffet lunch and is followed by the opportunity to engage with fellow professionals and chat in more depth with our speakers, helping establish that invaluable ‘support network’.
