Are you a budding Beckham or potential Pele? Then get you and your workforce signed up for the prestigious Orphanage Cup, organised by Child Action North West (CANW).
Businesses across Lancashire are invited to come together at a special breakfast event in January at Lancashire Football Association headquarters to relaunch the county’s Orphanage Cup.
Established in the late 1800s, the Orphanage Cup is one of the UK’s oldest football tournaments and is hosted in Lancashire.
Now organised by CANW, the historic tournament will involve corporate teams from leading businesses across all four corners of the county.
Businesses interested in taking part are invited to a breakfast event to launch the Orphanage Cup at Lancashire Football Association on Friday 24th January from 8.30-10.30am.
Guests will enjoy unique access to an inspiring team talk from a number of local, high-profile football legends and have the opportunity to take part in a crossbar challenge at the County Ground.
Whilst networking with other Lancashire businesses, guests will also be able to find out more about the tournament, and learn how supporting CANW by entering a team into the Orphanage Cup will benefit both their business and the local community.
Deborah Blades, Grants and Partnership Lead at Child Action North West, said: “The Orphanage Cup offers businesses a fantastic team building opportunity and it’s a brilliant way to engage with colleagues outside of work in a fun and competitive environment.
“Businesses are also increasingly searching for a way in which they can directly support good causes within the communities most local to them.
“The Orphanage Cup will enable local businesses to score in both of these areas. Plus one successful business will win the glory of being crowned 2020 Orphanage Cup Champions!”
The tournament is being hosted in aid of CANW, which is a local charity supporting over 6000 children, young people and families every year. They work at the heart of communities helping children and young people lead healthy and meaningful lives with the opportunity to succeed in school, enjoy healthy relationships, have access to training and employment opportunities and be successful in the world of work.
Having previously only included teams from within the East Lancashire area, the Orphanage Cup has now expanded to include businesses from districts across North, Central and South Lancashire.
