Lancashire Mind and The Princes Trust Burnley are joining forces to host a drop-in wellbeing and mental health event specifically designed for members of the emergency services in Burnley and Pendle.
Police, Fire and Rescue and Ambulance staff are invited to attend the free event – entitled ‘999 What about your wellbeing’.
The event will be held on Wednesday 27th July at Burnley Fire Station on Belvedere Road, with wellbeing activities available between 10am – 2pm.
Joanne Birkner, community development coordinator at Lancashire Mind, said: “Emergency workers are known for going above and beyond to help others but sometimes find it hard to decompress and look after their own mental health and wellbeing.
“This session has been designed by the young people specifically for those working under intense pressure, and often with little time to spend searching for external support - we will be offering signposting, wellbeing activities, and tips on how best to manage stress to remind staff that their own wellbeing is important too”
“Whether you work for the emergency services, or are close to someone who does, it promises to be a welcoming, supportive and informative event.”
Joanne leads Lancashire Mind’s Community Wellbeing Challenge, which encourages individuals and groups to implement positive wellbeing activities within their local community.
The Princes Trust Burnley partnered with Lancashire Mind to deliver Community Wellbeing Challenge as part of their programme for young people aged 16-24 within Burnley and Pendle, who are not currently in employment, education or training.
William Wilkinson, team leader at The Princes Trust, said: “Our young people are passionate about supporting the emergency services, especially as they tend to place the wellbeing of others before their own.
“They will be handing out self-care boxes, donations and raising awareness of the charities and organistions that provide wellbeing and mental health support for our local services.”
William added: “This is also a valuable opportunity for young people to play an active part in supporting their community and pass on the leadership, resilience and self-care skills they have learnt within The Princes Trust programme.”
